“Verite”
Vérité, veritas, verdad, truth, no matter what language you speak, Doug Bowers' release speaks or rather sings truth. Doug's first “official” solo release stands solidly in the progressive rock tradition without being bombastic or unnecessarily complex. You'll find the music familiar in its pacing with synthesizers, electric guitars drums and bass. But this CD has that je ne sais quoi including cello, flute, and a choir that is lacking on other releases. “Truth Suite” includes teachings from the Anglican Bishops of Uganda and Rwanda. This isn't your 70’s progressive rock knock off, Doug brings modern driving melodies, guitar lines and synth riffs to fill the ears and delight any fan of the genre. Be certain that the themes represented reflect Doug's Christian faith, but you won't be lectured or preached into submission. Lyrically you'll find honesty, humor, irony and cause for self reflection. Verite is a CD that hits all the marks, pulls no punches and makes you want to be part of the Truth.
