Ground Zero
“The Rolling Away”
Ground Zero's only recording was tracked on a beautiful old Otari 8 track 1/2” reel to reel recorder. The machine is long gone but the music remains. The times were formative and wild; the music was raw and from the heart.
“The Rolling Away” is a literal translation of the ancient name Gilgal which was the first place the Israelis came to after crossing the Jordan River into the Promised Land. The Lord used that name as an object lesson and taught the people there that in that place they were rolling away the reproach that had followed them for forty years in the desert. Penned by Peter J in his fortieth year, the concept had added poignancy. In the second verse he makes the song very personal. This tune was Ground Zero’s signature piece in their few years together.
Included here for the *first* time is an original rough take of “Ballad of the Titanic” in its acoustic form. This song was rearranged into progressive form by Peter J and is also heard on “Signposts” by Vertical Alignment. Peter J often performed this song on acoustic both with Ground Zero and also solo. The song was originally inspired by an article from Rick Joyner on the prophetic significance of the Titanic.
