“Existence”
Emerald Vein founder Bob Young writes, “Just thinking of the songs on ‘Existence’… ‘Worship’ just has that haunting feeling of God stalking me and evil also lurking while I'm being transformed and changed. The song ‘Existence’ relates to the vanity of life. ‘Completely Nothing‘ I wrote kind of about God and also about this dear friend/girlfriend at the time, Barbara, whom i loved dearly. After i got saved I had to break if off with her then a few years later she died. The song ‘Messiah’ i can't even remember! (Brain dead over here.) ‘Promise’ has some lovely soundscapes with God promising to never leave us. I used an old E-mu sampler on the song. (I still have the dinosaur. I think it has like 16 second memory and it’s the size of a car!)
“‘Out Of My Head’ has some twelve string action with over comping my compressor. ‘Take Hold,’… some of the words in that were, ‘Take hold of your self what little there is left inside me, Capture all my deepest fears and swallow them inside Your Body.’ It is talking about my struggle with light and darkness and asking God to take what is of himself in me and take all my fears. ‘In His World’ is again the sounds of torment and darkness and light in struggle declaring at the end he is the Alpha and Omega.”
